Place Observation #1
The noise of a million different conversations fill my head. The scraping of chairs is almost too much to handle and the clatter of trays overpowers. People munch, suck, lick, and swallow. Carrying on a conversation is almost impossible with all the distractions so close by. The smells overwhelm my nose. Each new direction is a new smell; orange chicken, pepperoni pizza, burgers. Every way I look, there is some new disgustingly fascinating thing to fixate on. Such as the overflowing trashcans. People walk by and add garbage to the pile, yet none of it ever falls out. It's as if all garbage had a magnet inside it that made it stick to other garbage. Tables fill up left and right. Empty tables seem to sit a bit taller, as if calling out for people to sit there. Yet, when someone does sit down, it's as if they deflate, for there is no need to boast any longer. There is barely room to walk between all the people eating lunch. To leave, I must find my way through the maze of human bodies, tables, trays, and vendors.
